I signed up for this class to learn more about taking pictures since I love to take pictures, and I didn't think it would be too difficult for me since I knew most about taking pictures. But, I learned even more about cameras and then worked a lot with photoshop. When I first started taking pictures for this class they were good, but compared to my photos now I got a lot better with the camera and the photos looked better. I didn't know anything about photoshop when I first came to this class, but now I know a lot more and feel more comfortable with it. My first assignments in photoshop weren't very good, but they have gotten much better. I was really bad with the quick selection tool at first, but now I have gotten better with it and I know how to use it more and making the photos look nice and not distorted. The horse picture was apart of the photo 1 assignment and then the still life photo was from the last assignment, photo 7. I have gotten so much better with taking pictures and making them look good. I definitely think that I have gotten better with framing. The horse picture isn't framed very well, but I think the still life picture was framed nicely.

For this assignment we had to take portrait pictures and then bring them into photoshop and put a white borer around each photo. We had to find good lighting, a white background, and then we had to take a bounce card on one side to reflect the light so there wasn't a shadow on the face. Once I uploaded the pictures onto photoshop I ended up having to crop some things out, then I resized them and put them both on a black background with white borders around each photo.
For this weeks photo assignment, I focused on the subject still life. I messed around with the settings on my camera to see how the photos would look with different modes. I played around some more with ISO and a few other things. This photo assignment was not my favorite one to do, but I still enjoyed taking pictures. It was kind of hard to take pictures of still life, because I didn't want to move them and it was hard to get the right angle. I still liked the assignment because I got to take more pictures , but this wasn't my favorite one that I did.
For this assignment we had to choose some different photoshop assignments and follow the directions on how to do it. I chose dash of color, mental sphere, and the screen jumping effect. For dash of color we had to make the image black and white and then make some color pop out. For the mental sphere I had to put a photo on a mountain and put a sphere around the image to make it look like it was floating in the mountains. For the screen jumping we had to get a tv screen and then put a action shot inside of it and make it look like it was comping out of the screen. http://www.digital-photography-school.com/mono-with-a-dash-of-colour-photoshop-cs2-tutorial http://www.photoshopstar.com/photo-effects/how-to-create-mental-sphere/ http://www.photoshopessentials.com/photo-effects/photo-blend/ http://www.photoshopessentials.com/photo-effects/screen-jump/ I learned how to use many different tools for the tutorial assignments. I didn't know some of these tools existed and it was cool to learn how to use them, and make the photos look really cool. I thought that overall they were easy to do, but some of them were a little difficult at first to figure out the right way to do them. Especially if the directions were vague and didn't explain things well.
For this weeks photo assignment I focused on the subject macro. I played around with many different settings on my camera to try and make it look better. I played with ISO and I played around with the macro setting and other ones. I liked this assignment because it was cool to play around with settings to make the pictures look really good up close. But, it was difficult at first to make them not look blurry up close.
For this photoshop assignment we had to take a picture somewhere in the school and make it look like something is happening in that area that is out of the ordinary. So I decided to focus on the theme of superheroes. At first, this assignment was difficult because you had to figure out all of the tools, but once you got used to it it was pretty easy to figure it out. I enjoyed this assignment a lot.
For this weeks photo assignment I chose to take pictures at the barn and make them black and white. I worked with the ISO again, but I mostly just wanted to work with black and white in photoshop to see how it would look. I really liked taking this weeks photo because it was super fun to go out to the barn with friends to take pictures. I also enjoyed making it look nice in photoshop with black and white and different shades of it. I didn't really find anything difficult about this assignment.
I did not edit this photo, because I thought it looked good on its own. For this assignment, I took pictures of nature in my backyard with all of the snow and all of the trees and bushes. I played around with different settings including, portrait mode, macro mode, and then I used sport mode on some objects when it got a little windy. I liked this assignment because I got to capture the pretty snow with some nature, and I enjoyed taking pictures again because I love to take photos. I wish that I could've gotten pictures of other parts of nature though, but this was the only parts I could use.
For this photoshop assignment we had to learn how to use photomerge and how to properly use the camera to make a panoramic photo. I learned how to do more in photoshop and more about the camera and making the pictures be able to be a panoramic picture. I liked this assignment because it wasn't to hard to figure out how to do it, and I enjoyed going out and taking the pictures and using photoshop to make them into a panoramic. I didn't really dislike anything about this assignment, except maybe that it didn't take very long and you would finish pretty fast.
For this weeks photo assignment I chose the subject architecture. I went to downtown Ann Arbor to capture some of the cool buildings they have. In some places I practiced more of the shutter speed to get different lighting affects and I practiced more with the aperture and ISO. I liked this assignment a lot. I enjoyed going out to the city to take pictures of the cool buildings. I also messed around with a few of the settings since there wasn't going to be any action shots so I could be a little bit more creative.
